Archival Overview
Kushite Pharaoh of the 25th Dynasty who consolidated full royal control over Memphis and the Delta, renowned for commissioning the 'Shabaka Stone' preserving the ancient Memphite creation theology.
Biographical Record
Shabaka was the brother of Piye. Ascending the throne around 716 BCE, he relocated his royal residence to Memphis in northern Egypt, decisively suppressing rebellions in the Delta and ruling as a devout, benevolent pharaoh.
Shabaka was a passionate antiquarian who discovered an ancient crumbling papyrus worm-eaten in the Temple of Ptah. He ordered its sacred text copied onto a black basalt slab known today as the 'Shabaka Stone', preserving the profound 'Memphite Theology' which holds that the god Ptah created the universe through thought and the spoken word.
