Biographical Record

Born in Massachusetts while his father studied medicine at Harvard, King Bhumibol (1927–2016) ascended the throne in 1946 following the tragic death of his brother. Travelling with a camera and notebook into the kingdom's poorest rural provinces, he initiated over 4,000 royal development projects.

He patented artificial rainmaking technologies (Fon Luang), designed flood-control systems, and formulated the 'Sufficiency Economy' philosophy of sustainable development. During political crises (such as Black May 1992), his moral intervention ended military bloodshed.
