Biographical Record
A descendant of the royal house of Geumgwan Gaya, Kim Yu-sin (595–673 CE) became a leader of the aristocratic Hwarang ('Flower Youth') warrior order at fourteen. Forging an unbreakable partnership with King Muyeol (Kim Chun-chu), Yu-sin directed Silla's diplomatic and military grand strategy.
In 660 CE, alongside Tang general Su Dingfang, Kim Yu-sin defeated Baekje General Gyebaek at the Battle of Hwangsanbeol. In 668 CE, he conquered Goguryeo.
