Biographical Record

Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan (1890-1988), affectueusement nommé Bacha Khan, accomplit l'un des plus stupéfiants miracles pacifistes du XXe siècle en fondant en 1929 les Khudai Khidmatgar (« Serviteurs de Dieu »), une armée de 100 000 volontaires pachtounes dévoués à la non-violence absolue, à l'éducation des filles et au service humanitaire.

Allié fraternel de Gandhi, il subit des dizaines d'années de prison sous l'Empire britannique puis au Pakistan sans jamais renier son engagement pour la réconciliation, la tolérance interconfessionnelle et la paix.
