Julian of Norwich (1343–c. 1416 CE) lived as an anchorite walled into a stone cell attached to Saint Julian's Church in Norwich, dedicating her days to prayer and counseling seekers.

Following sixteen miraculous visions during a near-fatal illness in 1373, she spent twenty years meditating upon them, penning Revelations of Divine Love, which celebrated God as our compassionate Mother and Lord.
