José Martí

José Julián Martí Pérez was a Cuban poet, essayist, journalist, philosopher, and revolutionary statesman who became the intellectual apostle of Cuban independence. Through his writings and political organizing in exile, he founded the Cuban Revolutionary Party to liberate Cuba from Spanish colonial rule while passionately advocating Latin American unity and anti-imperialism.
