Biographical Record

Johannes Tauler (c. 1300–1361 CE) studied under Meister Eckhart in Strasbourg and Cologne, emerging as the premier pastoral voice of the Rhineland mystical movement.

During the terrible Black Death of 1348, while many clergy fled, Tauler remained in Strasbourg nursing the sick and preaching comfort, teaching that ordinary work performed in divine love is true worship.
