Biographical Record

Originally named Jirghogadai, he shot Genghis Khan's warhorse during battle in 1201 and confessed honestly when captured. Impressed by his candor and lethality, Genghis spared him and renamed him "Jebe" (The Arrow). He rose rapidly to become one of the Khan's four fierce "Dogs of War."

Jebe conquered the Qara Khitai Khanate in 1218 and led the breathtaking 3-year cavalry reconnaissance through Persia, the Caucasus, and the Kievan Rus, culminating in the victory of the Kalka River.
