Czech general and Hussite military leader who remained completely undefeated, even after becoming totally blind in both eyes. Revolutionized European warfare by pioneering mobile wagon forts (Wagenburg) and firearm integration.

Biographical Record

Jan Žižka (c. 1360–1424) turned an untrained peasant population into an unstoppable fighting force against heavy armored crusader knights of the Holy Roman Empire. Chaining farm wagons fitted with cannons, hand culverins, and flails into defensive rings (Wagenburg), he invited knightly charges only to shatter them with artillery fire and flanking counter-assaults.

Winning celebrated victories at Sudoměř, Vítkov Hill, and Kutná Hora, Žižka was among the very first European commanders to exploit gunpowder weapons tactically.
