"I never inserted a single hadith into this book until I had performed an ablution and prayed two units of prayer, seeking divine guidance. Truth has a radiance that deceit can never extinguish."

Archival Overview

Supreme Hadith master recognized as "Amir al-Mu'minin" in prophetic traditions. Evaluated over 600,000 traditions with peerless critical methodology to compile Sahih al-Bukhari—the most authentic book in Sunni Islam after the Quran.

Biographical Record

Orphaned at an early age in Silk Road Bukhara and blessed with phenomenal photographic memory, Al-Bukhari memorized whole books in childhood. For sixteen years, he traversed Iraq, Hijaz, Syria, and Egypt, interviewing over a thousand hadith transmitters.

He formulated rigorous criteria requiring unbroken narrator continuity, unassailable moral character, and proven physical contemporaneity between teacher and student, performing ritual purification before inscribing each hadith. Exiled from Bukhara for refusing private palace lessons to governors, he passed away near Samarkand.
