Biographical Record

Ibn Qudamah al-Maqdisi (1147–1223 CE) fled Crusader-occupied Palestine as a youth, settling on the slopes of Mount Qasiyun in Damascus where his family founded the Salihiyya district.

He fought alongside Saladin in the Battle of Hattin and liberation of Jerusalem in 1187, authoring Al-Mughni which provided respectful, encyclopedic comparisons of all Sunni legal schools.
