Settling permanently in Tunis, Ibn al-Abbar was appointed Grand Vizier and Chief of the Imperial Chancery (Diwan al-Insha). He composed masterworks of biographical historiography including Al-Hulla al-Siyara and Al-Takmila li-Kitab al-Sila, establishing Tunis as the supreme intellectual heir to Andalusian letters.
