Henri-Edmond Cross (1856–1910 CE) adopted an English translation of his surname Delacroix to avoid confusion with Eugène Delacroix, joining the Neo-Impressionists in 1891.

Living in Provence, he evolved Seurat's tiny dots into broad, radiant mosaic-like tesserae of glowing Mediterranean color, hosting Henri Matisse in 1904 as Matisse painted Luxe, Calme et Volupté.
