Archival Overview
Sixth king of the First Babylonian Dynasty who unified Mesopotamia. Globally celebrated for the Code of Hammurabi, one of humanity's earliest comprehensive legal codes establishing the written rule of law and judicial protection.
Biographical Record
Hammurabi ascended the throne of the small city-state of Babylon and, through tactical alliances and administrative acumen, unified the entirety of Sumer and Akkad. He invested heavily in canal networks, urban fortifications, and irrigation infrastructure.
