Biographical Record

Gregory Palamas (1296–1359 CE) was an Athonite monk who rose to defend hesychast contemplative monks against the rationalist criticisms of Barlaam of Calabria.

In his Triads, he defended the reality of true deification (theosis), proving that while God's essence remains transcendent, believers participate in His uncreated energies.
