Biographical Record
George Chuvalo was born to Croatian immigrant parents in Toronto's west end. Over a twenty-two-year professional boxing career spanning ninety-three bouts, Chuvalo won the Canadian Heavyweight Championship five times, fighting the golden era's greatest heavyweights including Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier, George Foreman, and Floyd Patterson.
Chuvalo is immortal in boxing lore for his granite chin: he was never once knocked off his feet in his entire professional career. Following the tragic loss of three sons and his wife to suicide and drugs, Chuvalo dedicated his later decades to youth anti-drug advocacy across Canada, appointed to the Order of Canada.
