Archival Overview

Legendary Amazigh combatant from the Aït Ouirra tribe of El Ksiba who fought alongside Moha Ou Said against French colonial invading columns in the Middle Atlas.

Biographical Record

Fatima Taghbaloute was a renowned woman warrior of the Aït Ouirra Berber confederacy. During the French campaigns to pacify the central Middle Atlas between 1913 and 1920, she rallied fighters with traditional Tamazight poetry and directly took up arms during the Battle of El Ksiba.

Her battlefield valor and organizational skill in rallying women to supply ammunition and water under heavy artillery fire earned her legendary renown across the Atlas mountains as an embodiment of indigenous resistance.
