Biographical Record
Renowned for his indomitable courage, marksmanship, and deep knowledge of the rugged ravines of Cyrenaica's Jabal Akhdar, Bu Umar led dozens of ambushes against Italian mechanized columns and fortified outposts.
In November 1929, during a fierce encirclement by Italian aerial and infantry forces at Wadi Bu Taga, Bu Umar fought to his final bullet to cover the retreat of Omar al-Mukhtar.
