Enzo Ferrari (1898–1988), known as Il Drake or Il Commendatore, was the titanic visionary who forged the most famous, glamorous, and successful team in motorsport history: Scuderia Ferrari. Starting as an Alfa Romeo test driver, he founded the Scuderia in 1929 to prepare racing cars for gentleman drivers.

Ferrari began building his own sports cars in 1947 solely to fund his Grand Prix racing addiction. Under his iron rule, Ferrari claimed nine Formula One World Drivers' Championships and nine 24 Hours of Le Mans victories during his lifetime, transforming the Prancing Horse into a universal symbol of passion and speed.
