Pioneering Algerian revolutionary leader, founding member of the historic Group of 22, who commanded the outbreak of the armed liberation struggle in northern Constantinois until his heroic death at age twenty-seven.

Biographical Record

Didouche Mourad (1927–1955), known by the nom de guerre Si Abdelkader, was one of the youngest and most passionate architects of the Algerian War of Independence. An early scout leader and activist in the MTLD, he co-founded the Revolutionary Committee of Unity and Action (CRUA) in 1954.

Assigned to organize Wilaya II (North Constantinois), he launched coordinated attacks on colonial barracks and police stations on the historic night of November 1, 1954. On January 18, 1955, surrounded by superior French forces at Oued Boukerker near Condé-Smendou, he fought to his final bullet, becoming the first FLN historic chief to fall in battle.
