Biographical Record
Brian Frederick Arthur Hines, known professionally as Denny Laine, was born in Birmingham, England. He co-founded The Moody Blues in 1964, singing lead vocals on their breakthrough 1964 UK number-one and international hit "Go Now." He left the band in 1966 to pursue solo and group projects, including Ginger Baker's Air Force.
In 1971, Paul McCartney invited Laine to form Wings alongside Linda McCartney. Laine remained the only constant member of Wings besides Paul and Linda throughout their entire decade-long existence, contributing guitar, bass, keyboards, and backing vocals to classic albums including Band on the Run (1973) and Venus and Mars (1975). In 1977, Laine and McCartney co-wrote "Mull of Kintyre," which became the biggest-selling single in British chart history up to that point. Laine was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2018 as a founding member of The Moody Blues.
