Biographical Record

Colin Steele McRae (1968–2007) was a Scottish rallying legend whose spectacular 'flat out' approach captivated fans across the globe. In 1995, driving for the Subaru World Rally Team alongside co-driver Derek Ringer, McRae became the first British driver and the youngest ever to win the World Rally Championship.

With 25 WRC victories, McRae's fearless style and popular eponymous video game series introduced rallying to a global mainstream audience. McRae died tragically in a helicopter crash near his home in Lanark in 2007 alongside his five-year-old son Johnny and two family friends.
