Biographical Record

Gianclaudio 'Clay' Regazzoni (1939–2006) was signed by Enzo Ferrari in 1970, winning his debut season's Italian Grand Prix at Monza before an ecstatic sea of tifosi. Partnered with Niki Lauda in 1974, Regazzoni lost the World Championship by just three points at Watkins Glen.

At Silverstone in 1979, Regazzoni took the historic first Grand Prix victory for Frank Williams' team. Paralyzed from the waist down in a 1980 crash at Long Beach, he refused defeat, developing hand controls to compete in the Paris-Dakar Rally and 12 Hours of Sebring while championing rights for disabled athletes.
