Djaafri was a heroic conservator of written heritage, personally rescuing, restoring, and cataloging thousands of endangered ancient manuscripts in astronomy, medicine, desert hydraulic engineering (the Foggara system), and jurisprudence, ensuring the survival of the Sahara's extraordinary intellectual civilization.
