Biographical Record

Charles Borromeo (1538–1584 CE) was made cardinal-nephew by Pope Pius IV at age twenty-two, playing a decisive role in successfully concluding the Council of Trent in 1563.

As Archbishop of Milan, he reformed corrupt clergy, founded the first modern seminaries, and personally led processions through the city during the 1576 plague, feeding 60,000 citizens daily.
