Biographical Record

Camille Muffat (1989–2015) was a French swimming champion whose grace and dedication brought French swimming to global heights. Trained in Nice under Fabrice Pellerin, Muffat conquered the 2012 London Olympic Games, winning three medals: gold in the 400-meter freestyle with a new Olympic record, silver in the 200m freestyle, and bronze in the 4x200m relay.

Retiring from competition in 2014 at age 24, Muffat tragically died alongside sailor Florence Arthaud and boxer Alexis Vastine in a mid-air helicopter collision while filming a television show in La Rioja, Argentina, plunging France into deep national mourning.
