"Where are you taking me, brother? The road is dark and our thirst is unquenched."

Archival Overview

Mythic co-founder and raw vocal soul of Nass El Ghiwane whose tragic, mysterious death at age 30 turned him into an eternal symbol of Moroccan youth counterculture.

Biographical Record

Hailing from the Saharan oasis of Tata, Boujemaa Hagour grew up in Hay Mohammadi, Casablanca, immersing himself in popular theater with Tayeb Saddiki. In 1970, he co-founded Nass El Ghiwane, wielding his banjo and delivering blistering, high-pitched vocal screams that broke all conventional Arab musical norms.

His raw delivery of *Fin Ghadi Biya Khouya* (Where Are You Taking Me, Brother?) became the underground national anthem of resistance against social oppression. His sudden, tragic death in October 1974 shocked Morocco, cementing his status as an immortal musical legend.
