Biographical Record
Boualem Khalfa joined the nationalist and anti-colonial press in the 1940s, becoming co-director of 'Alger Républicain' alongside Henri Alleg. Imprisoned and tortured by colonial paratroopers in Barberousse during the Battle of Algiers, he maintained an indomitable moral resilience.
In prison, he co-authored the poetic anthology 'La Voix des poètes de la liberté'. Following independence, Khalfa fought tirelessly for journalistic integrity, progressive republican ideals, and the emancipation of the working classes, living to age 94 as a revered dean of Algerian journalism.
