Biographical Record

Known as 'Abu Shulukh' (Father of Facial Scarification), Badi IV ruled the Funj Sultanate during its military peak. In 1744, Emperor Iyasu II of Ethiopia invaded Funj territory with a massive imperial army; Badi completely routed the invading army at the Battle of the Dinder River.
