Biographical Record

Al-Hasan ibn Yusuf al-Hilli (1248–1325 CE) was a student of Nasir al-Din al-Tusi who authored over one hundred treatises on philosophy, logic, theology, astronomy, and jurisprudence.

He served as chief scholar to the Mongol Ilkhanate ruler Oljeitu, establishing a traveling mobile university that accompanied the imperial court and securing state protection for Islamic learning.
