Archival Overview

Eminent 12th-century Veerashaiva mystic and poet who served as the revered President of the Anubhava Mantapa, mentoring Basavanna and Akka Mahadevi.

Biographical Record

Allama Prabhu was an ascetic wandering mystic endowed with profound metaphysical realization. When Basavanna established the Anubhava Mantapa in Kalyana, Allama Prabhu was unanimously elected to occupy the Shunya Simhasana (Throne of the Void) as its supreme spiritual moderator.

Allama's vachanas are famed for their radical monism, intense riddles (bedagina vachanagalu), and uncompromising spiritual scrutiny. He guided countless seekers, including the great female mystic Akka Mahadevi, toward transcendent non-dual liberation beyond rituals.
