Biographical Record

Ali Mellah, known as Colonel Si Cherif, was an early activist in the Special Organization (OS) in Kabylie alongside Krim Belkacem and Amar Ouamrane. At the outbreak of the Revolution on November 1, 1954, he led key guerrilla operations in the Tigzirt and Draa El Mizan sectors.

Following the 1956 Soummam Congress, he was promoted to Colonel and tasked with the perilous mission of opening the Saharan theater of operations as commander of Wilaya VI. He fell as a martyr in March 1957 near Laghouat, having permanently connected the desert to the national revolution.
