Archival Overview
Belarusian-born polymath and founder of heliobiology and cosmo-ecology, who proved that 11-year solar activity cycles directly affect biological systems, epidemics, and human mass psychology.
Biographical Record
Alexander Chizhevsky was born on February 7, 1897, in Ciechanowiec. A close colleague of Konstantin Tsiolkovsky, Chizhevsky was a true Renaissance polymath, mastering biophysics, astronomy, history, poetry, and landscape painting.
His groundbreaking 1924 treatise Physical Factors of the Historical Process demonstrated that peaks in solar flare activity correlated with mass historical unrest, revolutions, and biological epidemics on Earth. He also invented aero-ionification therapy (the famous Chizhevsky Chandelier) to purify air with negative ions. Despite spending 16 years in Stalinist labor camps and internal exile, his cosmic biological science gained global recognition.
