Albert Edwin Osborn

Albert Osborn (1886-1967) was elected General of the Salvation Army in 1946, at a crucial time when millions of European civilians were wandering in the midst of the rubble and post-war hunger. He mobilized all branches of the movement to deploy emergency food relief and rebuild shelters

Author of many songs and songs of hope translated into dozens of languages, he founded the Advisory Council to the General and extended the social network of the movement to Latin America and Africa, making the dignity of the poorest the top priority of his mandate.
