Towering Persian Shia traditionist whose 'Man La Yahduruhu al-Faqih' is one of the Four Canonical Books (Al-Kutub al-Arba'ah) of Twelver Shia jurisprudence.

Biographical Record

Ibn Babawayh al-Qummi (c. 923–991 CE), celebrated as Al-Saduq ('The Truthful'), was the foremost traditionist of the school of Qom during the tenth century.

Invited to Rayy by Buyid ruler Rukn al-Dawla, he authored over 300 treatises, including the creedal text Risalat al-I'tiqadat and the encyclopedic legal Hadith collection Man La Yahduruhu al-Faqih.
