Biographical Record

Yahya ibn Sharaf al-Nawawi (1233–1277 CE) studied eighteen hours a day in Damascus, sleeping only when overcome by exhaustion and refusing any state salary.

In his brief forty-four years, he authored beloved classics read in every Muslim home, including Riyad as-Salihin, and personally confronted Sultan Baibars over wartime taxation on peasants.
