Biographical Record

Abu Bakr al-Baqillani (c. 950–1013 CE) was the pre-eminent theologian of Baghdad, sent as an imperial ambassador by Buyid ruler Adud al-Dawla to the Byzantine court in Constantinople.

In Constantinople, when required to enter a low door designed to force him to bow before the Byzantine emperor, he entered walking backward. His I'jaz al-Quran proved the divine origin of the Quranic text.
