Ahmad al-Sadiq was one of the intellectual pillars of 18th-century Tunis during the stabilization of the Husainid dynasty. Holding a teaching chair at Ez-Zitouna, he trained generations of judges (cadis) across the regency.

His legal opinions reconciled classical Maliki commercial contracts with the expanding Mediterranean sea trade conducted with France, England, and Venice, fostering the maritime commercial revival of Tunis.
