"The stage is a fleeting dream of light; my brush tried only to catch its trailing whisper."

Archival Overview

Master modernist painter celebrated for his fluid, luminous depictions of the opera, ballet dancers, circus performances, and the bustling maritime streets of Alexandria.

Biographical Record

Younger brother of Seif Wanly, Adham studied under Italian master Ottorino Bicchi in Alexandria. He was mesmerized by the performing arts, sketching rapidly behind the curtains of the Cairo Opera House and European ballet tours.

His dynamic brushstrokes captured motion, stage lighting, and the ephemeral grace of dancers with astonishing lightness. Passing away prematurely at age 51, a dedicated museum at the Mahmoud Said Center in Alexandria preserves the Wanly brothers' legacy.
