Archival Overview
One of history's greatest dialectical philosophers and founder of the Madhyamaka (Middle Way) school of Mahayana Buddhism. Formulated the doctrine of Sunyata (Emptiness) in the Mulamadhyamakakarika, dismantling all rigid conceptual dogmas.
Biographical Record
Born into a Brahmin family in southern India and educated at Nalanda Mahavihara, Nagarjuna retrieved the Prajnaparamita sutras and applied relentless logical deconstruction (reductio ad absurdum) to demonstrate that all phenomena are devoid of intrinsic independent existence (Svabhava).
He established the Doctrine of the Two Truths: conventional truth (Samvriti-satya) and ultimate truth (Paramartha-satya), showing that emptiness is identical to dependent origination (Pratityasamutpada), liberating the mind from grasping into non-dual freedom.
