Biographical Record
Abu Ya'qub Yusuf al-Warglani was born in the desert oasis of Ouargla in southern Algeria. Seeking advanced knowledge, he undertook an epic journey to Cordoba and Seville in Andalusia, studying logic, mathematics, astronomy, and dialectical theology under the greatest scholars of Muslim Spain.
Returning to Ouargla, he composed 'Al-Dalil wa-l-Burhan' (The Guide and the Demonstration), a monumental treatise on logic and methodology that harmonized Aristotelian syllogisms with Islamic epistemology. He also compiled 'Tartib al-Musnad', the foundational collection of prophetic traditions in the Ibadi tradition, earning him universal veneration across the Maghreb and Oman.
