`Abdu'l-Bahá (Abbas Effendi)

Having shared his father's imprisonment from childhood, `Abdu'l-Bahá was hailed by contemporaries as the "Master" and supreme exemplar of humanitarian service. During World War I in Palestine, he organized agricultural reserves that prevented famine across northern Galilee.

His public addresses at universities, churches, and synagogues across London, Paris, New York, and Chicago captivated thinkers worldwide, and his funeral in Haifa brought together leaders of Jewish, Christian, Muslim, and Druze communities in shared mourning.
