Archival Overview
Tangier-born painter celebrated for luminous hyper-realistic portraits and dreamlike figurative compositions that captured the mysterious light and spiritual serenity of Moroccan faces.
Biographical Record
Abdelbasset Ben Dahman studied visual arts in Tetouan and Brussels. Returning to his native Tangier, he established his atelier in the medina, developing an exceptional mastery of oil glazing and classical figurative draftsmanship.
His paintings of elderly Moroccan craftsmen, veiled women, and meditative youths played with dazzling natural sunlight and deep shadows, making him one of Morocco's most distinguished realist painters of the late 20th and early 21st centuries.
