Biographical Record

Abdelaziz Ben Tifour was one of the brightest superstars of European football in the 1950s, winning the French Championship with OGC Nice and starring for AS Monaco. Having represented France in the 1954 World Cup, he was at the pinnacle of international sporting fame.

In April 1958, Ben Tifour used his prestige and luxury car to personally ferry star players Rachid Mekhloufi and Mustapha Zitouni across the Italian border on their secret journey to Tunis to establish the FLN team. After 1962, he served as player-coach for USM Alger, tragically killed in a car accident in 1970 at age forty-three.
