Archival Overview

One of the Seven Saints of Marrakesh, revered as 'Moul El Ksour' (Master of Palaces), who combined Sufi metaphysics with hydraulic engineering, planting groves and digging wells across the Haouz plain.

Biographical Record

Sidi Abdallah al-Ghazwani studied under master Sufi mentor Abdelaziz al-Tebba in Fez and Marrakesh. Renowned for his practical engineering intellect, he taught his disciples that spiritual elevation must be matched by productive physical work on the land.

He engineered subterranean irrigation canals (khettaras), planted extensive olive and date groves, and built civic hospices and mosques throughout the imperial city. His shrine in the El Ksour quarter of the Marrakesh medina is celebrated for its spiritual tranquility.
